I'd have a JDM DC2 over a DC5: much better looking, I reckon.

As for the willy-waving, which-is-quicker discussion, there's not much difference in the real world between any of the cars mentioned. A quick test of an ATR vs. a K20 DC2 showed that the ATR lagged behind slightly, but the Teg would have need a very long straight to pass it. And comparing my A5 to the ATR on the road shows that it's just as quick from A to B, if only because of the vtec cut-in point.
(This all changes on a track, of course.)

On a serious note though, this has been a very interesting thread for me, as I too have been toying with the idea of saving up for a DC5. Love the look of them when they've been modded, and it would be nice to have something fresher & more modern.

But as others have said..is a DC5 worth 7 Prelude's? Possibly not.

Yes it's a great car. Yes it's more exclusive. Yes it has a higher fap count. But think of what you could do to your Lude with £7K..! Seriously..think about it..

You could;

1. Make it handle & ride like a brand new car (or better).
2. Get a fantastic exhaust system & induction kit.
3. Get Skunk2 IM, TB, Cams, & Hondata ECU.
4. Get some brand new Recaro's.
5. Trick out the interior (steering wheel, gear shift knob, ICE, etc).
6. Get an excellent set of brand new alloys.
7. And maybe even a respray..if you know the right people.

Really worth some consideration.

My reckoning is you'd end up with a much better car for the same money if you modded a Lude.

But is that enough?

You still wouldn't get a lot of respect from the masses!

Really depends what you want I guess..and which you feel sexiest in.

I understand either way. I'm still none the wiser..

Difficult decision.

Or you could just compromise & go DC2. Epic car..but not so special (arguably), and looks a bit dated perhaps.

But one hell of a drive, and faster than a Lude. ;)

Or an S2000 for something a bit different?

There's no easy answer here I don't think..just down to personal preference.

Whichever way you go though, £7K's gonna buy you a few smiles. ;)

For £7k Crunchy, I would go for JDM 98 spec DC2 with a Supercharged K20.. :D

Power, handling and looks all in one package. ;)

Iv seen more DC5s on the roads than Preludes and i fap more over Preludes.

I drove a DC2 before my Type S. Preferred the Type S mainly because its more usable on the daily being Luxury and all that.
And because its a luxury Coupe i install hard suspension, nard engine mounts and stage 4 clutch......its just win.

Now to do the same to a Rolls Phantom.

I like the idea of making my bb4 into as good as new with a nuke under the bonnet..........but its goodbye money when I fancy a change which I will in a few years. If I get a nice example of a dc2 or dc5, yes it will be price but in my world im think I sould get all my money back at the other end as the prices seem to be rising.
I would like to stay with honda, n/a hassle free. I do really like the thought of the s2k....the problem being I need a car that can carry 3 or 2 adult s and a child in with at minimum enough room for my daughter to have her feet around her head like a gymnast lol. Plus im 6.4 and the s2k looks a Lil small side lol.

This thread has made me think alot and I have compiled a shorlist of amazing boy hood dream cars that will hold market value, which are doable with my finances of around 8G's:-
Dc5 as we know.
Dc2 if I find a good price amazing bye (k20 would sway me).
Evo 5-8 which im in love with.
3000gt or gto, later modles. (balls will get broke as not practical and I only just fit in lol).
Skyline r33-r34, I think I wont be able to get a r33gtr for that money but if can, yes that the top of the list.
Finally the beast of my dreams a Supra, must be a manual with a 2jzgte.

This is a huge decision as it is the most money I have spent and is not going to be easy to come buy again.

Thanks for all the input, I am taking everything on board that is being said.
