It has to be a trailer or low loader, as no MOT or tax means no wheel can touch the road

It is actually a grey area, by law if it's attached to a A frame, it's classed as a trailer
Towing a car using an A-frame or dolly
If you attach an A-frame to a car in order to tow it with a larger vehicle, the car plus A-frame counts as a trailer.
If you use a dolly to tow a broken-down vehicle, the dolly counts as a trailer.
In both cases the usual safety regulations for trailers apply.
Check your equipment meets safety standards

Check your trailer brakes
Any trailer weighing over 750 kilograms must have a working brake system. Some smaller trailers also have brakes, although these are optional. Any brakes on a trailer or caravan must be in good working order. If you haven't used the trailer for while, you may need to get the brakes checked and serviced.
From http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr ... /DG_192285

So if you use an A frame it doesn't need to be legal, but for a car it would need to be braked (which it won't be)

Ha so you can turn the car into a trailer, but then it becomes illegal because it isn't braked?!

do you have brfeakdown cover?

Drive a mile or so down the road, remove the main relay, and phone AA/RAC

get car recovered to home ;)

I'm already a member of the aa, I just need to check its a home service or to the nearest garage only!

Do you think they will notice the car being a different colour?

Bingo my roadside relay cover will take me home but just depends if they notice a different colour of car, I guess I can say it was respected and there details are wrong!
