Revs

Post by jsbach » Mon Jul 14, 2014 9:46 pm

Hello wise people
Quick question:
With the air con on, is it right for the revs to drop so low it's constantly on the verge of stalling? Out of gear obviously.
Cheers
James

The idle air control valve should compensate for the extra load. Its usually driven by a signal from the alternator or a ELD unit in fuse box. Weather the lude has that or not i don't know :?

Eld unit is built into the underbonnet fuse box.

OK
Is that a 'replace' or 'mend' situation?
Costly?
Please bear in mind I am rubbish at most car maintenance-related things.

Well of the eld unit is up the swanny then you will req a replacement under hood fuse box. On the modern car there would be a code for a faulty eld unit. But again, not sure if the 5th gen would throw a code for faulty eld. :?
