A chap I met but don't know very well told me that the H23 will take a higher boost than an H22 when both have stock internals.
He reckoned the H22 would manage 5-7 psi, which probably sounds about right. He wasn't sure about the H23 figure, but seemed sure that it could end up with more flywheel hp without compromising reliability.
I'm not convinced. Could it be true?
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Yep, bollocks. 2.0 would hold more boost though.

I think that would only be possible if it was a H23A DOCH VTEC, (H23A bottom end + H22 head) ... just seams like a lot of hassle for little gains, this set up probably will give you some more low end torque and better spool time. And as for reliability - I also suspect it would be insignificant, as the blocks/internals are very similar.

Does this mean by swapping my head on my H23 I could give myself VTEC, a H23A DOCH VTEC relatively cheaper?JMBW wrote:I think that would only be possible if it was a H23A DOCH VTEC, (H23A bottom end + H22 head) ... just seams like a lot of hassle for little gains, this set up probably will give you some more low end torque and better spool time. @prahunt I know they do it with the b series and d series engines (mini me conversion)..
theres a good chance its possible with the H too..
would involve some wiring or loom swap mind..

That's fine, I expected more work would be involved. But it's good to know its possible.4thgenphil wrote:It is possible prahunt although a little more complicated than just swapping the heads To get the best from it and make is semi reliable
