car has died again (fixed it again) 28/07/14

I am really starting to hate my new lude and am seriously considering getting rid of it as since I got it there had just been one issue after the other. The longest it has been running is 6 days before I have had to fix it. And in total so far I have spent more than the car costs getting it up & running only for it drokkin die on me again today

im going to endeavour to get it running again then if it gives me one more issue I will probably set it on fire

Not starting. I had this issue last week and found the cables had broke. I fixed them and it was fine now its doing the same thing again and all the cables are still connected fine

Them bushes are squashed now as I pushed the lude over tjem to get another car out the drive

More than likely a dizzy problem, I had the same issue last year....turned out to be the coilpack which was £25 and 10 mins to swap. Can you hear the fuel pump priming?

I would highly doubt it the dizzy as I have already changed that. Its a issue with the ignition as I jiggled the key back and forth earlier and it started to turn over then died. Im going to check all the connections on the ignition tomorrow

Ah ok, there is an issue with 5th gen ignitions. The electrical connections wear out, it was a Honda recall.

Safety Recall: Ignition Switch

(Supercedes 02-031, dated September 17, 2002)

BACKGROUND

Electrical contacts in the ignition switch can wear prematurely due to high electrical current passing through the switch. Worn out ignition contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning. Although the engine will restart in most cases, a vehicle that stalls while driving increases the risk of a crash.

VEHICLES AFFECTED -1997 Honda Accord (L4) -1995-99 Honda Accord (L4 and V6) -1995-00 Honda Civic -1997 Honda CRV -1997-00 Odyssey -1997-99 Honda Prelude

Not every vehicle in the years and models listed above is affected by this campaign. Before beginning work, verify that the vehicle is eligible by checking at least one of the following.

-The customer has a notification letter. -The vehicle is shown on your campaign responsiblity report. -The vehicle is shown as eligible on aDCS or iN (Interactive Network) VIN Status Inquiry

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

All owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification letter of this campaign. An example of the customer notification is at the end of this service bulletin.

CORRECTIVEACTION

Replace the electrical (ignition) switch

NOTE: Reinstalling aftermarket parts(security systems, alarms, audio systems, etc.) connected to the ignition wiring is not covered under this campaign. If a customer wants a non-Honda part reinstalled, the shop that installed the part (or the customer) must do the work and assume liability. In addition, the customer is responsible for all costs associated with the non-Hondapart and its installation. If you have any questions about this, please contact your District Service Manager.
