That 17 degrees then was just an example lol. I've set it to 15 well I think

Right I see what you mean mate now. I actually have a cheap gun somewhere which is just a strobe so can't set anything.
So I could check with that and see where the +15 is sitting.

So basically then using the snap on gun which can be set. I was originally correct! In timing it from the white tdc mark?
And not the red one.

Presumably the snap on gun can be set to 0 degrees?

But yeah, I believe that's the whole point of having advance on the gun, it lets you set the timing to whatever you want using the TDC mark on the flywheel. Sounds like you had it set up right the first time!

If your timing gun has a compensation dial, set it to 15 and use the white TDC mark on the flywheel, if it does not, use the +15 mark.

What he said 8-) lol.

I was confused bludge is I just followed the guide (manual) which I guess is made with a gun without a dial. I have never seen a gun without a dial that's why I thought you always set it to what you want on the gun then moved the mark accordingly.

I bought a cheap gun online as I'd lost my snap on one, which I then found before the cheap one arrived lol. I was shocked to see it had no dial.
Lol

It is the blue two pin connector. It is under the radio if you have never found it before.

Yes mate, bridge it, start the car. The engine light will stay on, that means it will be running dizzy timing alone so you can set it.
