I used to do Brighton to York and back at least every other weekend when laura was at uni. Initially I went by train and they were expensive, crowded, full of drokking weirdos, and running around with baggage was a ball ache. To put it into perspective I paid over £130 for my return ticket each time and often for a 2 hour leg of my journey I would have to sit on my case in the carriage connector because the train was overcrowded. Not fun on noisy mk3 rolling stock.

I started using my Accord instead, it cost almost the same (2 tanks of petrol), but I was in the privacy and comfort of my own car and it was marginally faster if the traffic wasn't awful.

I don't think I've used public transport since, apart from sometimes I skip the fare on the train from newhaven to seaford (3miles, if that) to save getting a taxi back from the pub  or occasionally going the opposite way when all my cars have broken and I have no other way of getting to work

Well I'm still trying to figure out how I got 240 miles from my last tank (yes, it's properly tuned and serviced) and some of these buggers are getting 350 odd :?
