Farting after rotor arm disintegration
Farting after rotor arm disintegration
Hi, I broke down and tried to keep restarting it with lots of revs but had to be towed home. It turned out to be the rotor arm which had disintegrated and so I replaced the arm and the cap with new ones and my beloved prelude (4G) burst back in to life.
However, I now get a lot of farting (like misfires) from the engine on startup and then it throws the engine management light. I've replaced the spark plugs but that made no difference. The car runs perfectly fine otherwise but I'd like to get it sorted.
Could it be the ht leads? Any other ideas would be appreciated?

Welcome to LG!!
If you pull the CEL code that will tell you what the ECU thinks is wrong. http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/wiki/in ... _and_codes

Cheers, first post since moving over from preludeuk!
The engine management light only comes on after idling for a short while, I've done the paper clip in the past and will give it a go tonight but does it remember the last error or will it only give an error code if the engine management light persists?

Its throwing an error 9 which is CYP: Cylinder Sensor and I've also got a lot of oil in the distributor cap which will need a seal. So, I'm guessing I need a new distributor!

not necessarily but you could have damaged something inside.polgster wrote:Its throwing an error 9 which is CYP: Cylinder Sensor and I've also got a lot of oil in the distributor cap which will need a seal. So, I'm guessing I need a new distributor!
they're easy to strip down but if a couple of components are goosed then a remanufactured unit is about £100
