5th Gen Central Locking headache

Post by funkmasterjay » Mon Mar 26, 2012 11:15 am

Hey all.

I have searched high and low for the last few weeks, and even got wiring instructions from the retailer of my new alarm system, but the Prelude Central Locking circuit is one massive ball ache.

Does anyone know where I can find the wires for lock and unlock. Any pics will also be much appreciated. If you know where it is, but don't have pics, that's ok please tell me anyway.

Many thanks.

Jason.

Cheers guys. As said previously, I have searched High and Low on forums with no success. The plugs and looms they suggest so not seem to work.

Hi.

yes I have remote central locking. That side is (+) output, where as the alarm is negative. Every single manual, including the alarm manufacturer says I should tap pins 4 and 5 from the blue 14 pin connector at the Multiplex unit in the passenger kick panel. Well bugger me I have looked a million times.

Here is the plug -

Unless I am going mad there are no pins for Black/White and Blue/Orange.

I have studied this document also.
http://prelude.openbarr.com/manuals/5th_gen/ - page 1240.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

There are only 2 connectors for the multiplex unit. 14 pin (this one - which I need), and 20 pin one which I don't need.

After looking at Wiki, my car is registered in 1999, but as it's a H22A5, it is a 97-98 model.
Locking circuits are slightly different but the same Black/White and Blue/Orange wires should be present.

I have located the 2 wires under the fuse box and tested them, but they are positive pulse, not negative as I need.

I will fit a switchover relay tomorrow and see what happens. Once I get it all working, I will do a writeup as it is an absolute pain.

OK people.

I managed to find the proverbial grey connector under the dash. Honda really did a good job of hiding the bugger.

The good news is that I can control 'unlock' from the new alarm. However, there is no 'lock' function. I got a electician mate to confirm I was not going insane.

He looked in his database, and compared my notes. I am not going mad. We even checked the signals from the OEM central locking module.

So the solution is to therefore buy a slave door lock motor. I asked the retailer if I needed a motor and the bugger said no. If I had one in the first place, I would have not have wasted 2 weekends. Anyway, I will take some pics in the weekend if anyone is bothered to fit an aftermarket system. I will do a How to also on how I fit the motor.

I have never know a car to be such a pain in the ass.
