Don't use silicone.

Silicone is every painter nightmare. I hate it. Silicone reaction from car wax etc.

Use peanut butter oil or a plastic sealant like werkstat prot.

A thin smear of olive oil works, too. (Waitrose Extra Virgin, natch.)

Unusual, though, how the depths of suburbia exhibit a problem we haven't yet seen on an exposed hillside in the wilds of Hampshire.
