What's the back-story to LG?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

What's the back-story to LG?

Post by simonc » Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:54 am

A long time ago, at a kitchen table far, far away...

I would be absolutely fascinated to hear the story of how this site came about. Who came up with the original idea, how did the ball get rolling, who are the guys behind it, how long did it take to set it up and get the members rolling in, who were the originals and perhaps most significantly, the highs and lows of how it's grown into what it is.

Anybody know the full details on this back-story. I (and I bet a few others) would be grateful to hear about it. Ta.

It's already been recorded for posterity. Of course, they had to change the name and a few minor details, but otherwise it was almost exactly like this. Even explains some of the Mods.....

Quick answer Prelude UK was our home but became overrun with spam which took the mods hours to delete also it suffered from a lot of problems with down time sometimes stretching into days. The only way to make contact was via facebook which was not that satisfactory. The owner of PUK did not want to do anything about it so enough was enough. LG was born,if you want to see the members who founded this site click on members and go to page one and you will see the founding fathers.
That's it in a nutshell there is more to it than that but that's a longer story.

Ta for that Paul. I don't mean to be flippant but actually it's the 'longer story' you mentioned that would be interesting to hear.

For that you need Kawa or Ammo. My only part at the beginning was kidnapping as many PUK members as I could !

Dont forget www.ludebehaviour.co.uk! Which was the forerunner of them both. And there was prob something before that.

basically its like normal life mate.... A group of friends inhabits a local pub for years then, change of management, new customers or bad maintenance means the group moves to a new venue. Bullshite and waffle is all the same, as is the interest, just the decor changs every few years and there is a new big titted wench behind the bar. (make your own mind up between ammo and kawa as to who's mummy  )

You would be surprised at how many active members havn't driven their lude for years yet still post daily  myself included :?
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

There was also Hyperrev.co.uk before that set up by a forum named guy fastfu who had a very nice blue Buddy club lipped 4th gen. Then there was the realms of Honda Revolutions where a lot of Prelude owners started off, Rich at Performance Autoworks amongst a few. HR went a bit to $h1t too and Honda Evolutions was born but just didn't take up too well.

I would say most luders unified on PUK, which as Paul says went belly up due to spamming and forumup - a company bent on advertising income over any means of customer support of ugrading the open source software. There were a few members who had the technical knowledge and Kawa (Terry) had his own hosting, so they created LG as a bit of a haven when PUK used to go down. After a while it got too damn annoying and we moved everyone over to here. Then it's just grew day on day.
