Yes, as soon as you do what is classed as "aerial work" which is filming for commercial gain, you need an operators licence, public liability insurance and permission from the CAA - this liast one mainly due to the fact professional kit carrying a large dSLR will weigh over 7kg which is the weight limit for hobby use.mart609 wrote:I was reading somewhere about needing a 'drone licence' for these if used for filming if for monetary gain? or something like that
If however you are only filming for "sport and recreation" then you do not need the above providing the craft is under 7kg, you have the land owners permission (if private land) and you do not fly nearer than 50m to people, buildings or vehicles.
