To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Agree I have had the switch contacts get dirty and not work correctly, as you state turning it on and off a few times and it works might just have shifted the crud behind it on the stalk. An electrical contact cleaner should do the trick!

@Bludge

Hope the relay sort's it if not another thing to consider is the block that attaches to the bulb. I had the cables brake with age a few years ago on another car, the cable had become brittle and were not working. Age had taken its toll on the wire. Sometimes you just have to replace them with new.

It might also be the contacts around the bulb have got corroded, I have the above problems a lot on the trailers I have on my family small holding. A bit of sandpaper or your other half's emery file on the contacts should clean them up :)

i was going to say check the actual bulb holders - the black oblong ones that go on the back of the main beam the contacts corrode inside and the plastic sometimes melts. Ive had to replace one of mine - the other i cleaned the contacts on the back of the bulbs with a bit of emery paper. You can get replacements on ebay for a few quid :)
