I have repaired my cf bonnet at the corners - it was broken but not thru the top layer of cf and mine is painted red anyway so easy to hide any repair. TBH if your not confident about getting it repaired properly then look for another one of get an oem one and get that painted - at least you will be guaranteed a good fit. CF bonnets are notorious for poor fit and like others have said they can warp.
With regards to ebay - you should be getting a full refund including carriage cost and it is normally the seller who has to arrange uplfit of any damaged goods. I recently sent out a hi-fi amplifier which got damaged-i had paid for extra insurance so photos were taken and a claim made against hermes and this was paid out to me and i refunded the buyer and he kept/disposed of the damaged part. One problem for your claim might be that in the list of exclusions were all car parts - so even if your seller paid extra for insurance it will unlikely he will be able to claim.
If your not happy with the goods then you are entitled to a full refund - end of story :)

Aye, they've said I can have a full refund but I have to send the item back to them myself. With the bonnet being ridiculously big, it's gonna cost a small fortune to send back. EBay said I could contact the seller and ask for a refund of any postage fees I might pay, but that's up to the seller.

I emailed eBay back and said that wasn't good enough. Why should I have to be out of pocket for receiving damaged goods. Awaiting their response.

£26.50 for a bonnet :) under car parts and their a great courier!! bit better than £40/50 for most other quotes. id take your issue up with ebay and the courier he used; id say you have a case as its damaged goods, its his responsibility to contact the courier for a refund and ebays responsibility for getting you the complete undamaged (unless mentioned in advert) goods

Thanks for the info. £26.50 is much more palatable. I can imagine he won't reimburse me for return postage unless he is made to do so, so I'll see if eBay could help. After all, I've just given them more than that in the last couple of months in fees.

Well I've resolved this with the seller now. He's given me a partial refund so I've closed the case. I haven't yet had chance to test fit the bonnet but I'm trusting it will be OK. For the £100 it has ended up costing me it can't be bad, it looks all right anyway and will be better once I fix and paint it.

Might try my hand at filling and spraying, the lude is about to be retired until at least next summer so I have some time to try these things.
