Bit of a risk....

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

Well, still not home yet. :| it's been a comedy of errors, 21 hours to get recovered and I'm sat in the car that's now loaded onto a recovery travelling down the m1. :?

I had the same question and thought perhaps I'd just taken it the wrong way (oo er). So why were you sitting in it? :? Seems a bit dodgy.

I pretty much had to as the recovery vehicle that arrived was a 3 seater, so my wife and son sat in the cab, and the only space for me was in the car, I could have waited for another vehicle to arrive, but given it had taken them 21 hours to get to me at that point felt it was the only real option.

TBH I'm extremely disappointed with the RAC on this, had my dad not been able to help out, we would have been stranded on the top of the moors last night, in -5 temps with no heater and with a 3 year old in the car.

I will be making a significant complaint over this, and if riding in the car turns out to be illegal, then that will add significant weight to my argument.

I don't think it's illegal but I don't think their rac insurance covers you if in an accident.

Was it an RAC liveried vehicle that came to recover you? I find that with the AA they often sub out work to local recovery companies, they might not be as uptight on health and safety. I was really surprised to read you were allowed to sit in the car on the bed though, bugger that!

Yes, the recovery was subcontracted out.
