Friend is looking for a beater 4x4. £1000 budget. Anything?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

Nothing wrong with your original statement, just the response to my very narrow question being a repetition of your first statement, basically. Am I gently massaging you right in the grrr area yet

Just seconding jj's comments on getting the right engine size on a Trooper. Important. Good vehicles if you do, though. Me Mum's has 175k and going well.

If he wants really cheap end he might also look at the Daihatsu 2.8? (Unless someone tells me otherwise). Not fast, but not bad off road and I've seen them take a fair bit of abuse.

I had a look at the local car lot the other day and the chap didn't have any Isuzu's lurking about, sorry mate :( I'll keep my eyes peeled though. Still waiting to text my haulage bloke as I broke my phone and don't have his number anywhere else

RE the Daihatsu, I think the Fourtrak is the 2.8 and I know the community of horsey people love them (far too many of my family are horsey people) because they are pretty reliable provided they're not rusted through. They're not the biggest 4x4 though so not sure if they're up to much towing wise. I hate to generalise but a lot of horsey people don't have a clue about what's safe or legal towing wise (from my experience around yards) so maybe that's why the Fourtrak is so popular.
