Just checked my boot wiring. The 2 wires coming up from the boot strut, (O/S), disappear directly through a blind grommet into the base of the O/S spoiler strut. They must then travel directly through the interior of the spoiler, and join up with the high level brake light body. From memory, the wires join up with the O/S brake light wiring to send the signal to the high level light when the brakes are applied.

I didn't know you knew I had brown hair, or do I mean Brunette!! Mind you, not remembering my car has conduit is a bit dizzy, but then I spend 99.9% of my time driving my 3g not repairing it!! But I'll have a look at how my high light wires are connected to the standard brake lights and let you know.
