I haven't knowingly tried a car with ATTS but do know what the LSD feels like in our Accord.
The ATR is more chuckable than the 5G electro-mechanical 4WS, but I'd have to admit that some of that may be due to driver's confidence.
My local 'testing road' has 7 miles of interesting bends, straights and camber changes. The Accord grips better on the bends slower than, say, 50mph. There's not a lot in it over that. The times for the whole 7 miles are pretty much identical, but only because of the differences in the vtec cut-in point.
I'd love a spare bundle of dosh so that I could put an A7 and U2Q7 in the Lude and keep the 4WS. But I wouldn't bother to put 4WS in the Accord!

Back when I bought my first type s, year 2000.. I drove it happily on track and the road, eventually I gained confidence to chuck it into any and every corner wildly, knowing tats will do the bizzle.Doggo wrote:Rudelude wrote: 4ws is good in the ludes, but can catch you out; you can't throw your car into left and right bends as easy...
LudeGen Wiki....
"In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outperforming every car of that year on the Slalom, including all Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches. It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), an amazing result for the time. For reference, the 1988 Corvette took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h).
The Prelude was Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 1987."
Explain yourself, Sir!
Then one day I was driving my mates 2.2vti 4ws car to the nec for the MaxPower shower ( it was a show car)while he had McDonald's breaky in the driver seat... It was around 6.30 am and the urge to throw his car around the roundabouts of brum was too tempting... So I go around the roundabout violently, at marginally over the speed limit

The worst thing was, all the while my mate was watching me struggle whilst still eating and pissing himself laughing.... I just kernel his motor and he was pissing his pants.... He said to me afterwards, it's not a type s, u have to be more gentle with a 4ws...
In the end we got back to his garage ( he owned Motortec in Brum) and we put 2 different alloys on the damaged side.
The car was at the show with multi spokes on one side and 5 spokes on the other..... Everybody thought it was a deliberate style attempt....
If you went to MaxPower 2005 or 2006 u may have seen it there....

Hope this explains it.

Go to race wars.
Drive both cars down the track and back
Come back and comment.
As rudelude says its not until you get out of a type S and into a 4ws chassis that you realise just how much more focused atts is.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

Well explained.
I've done the same myself in mine - big oversteer and then messy correction.... I think maybe the 4ws kind of helps bring the car back in so when you dial in the right correction to bring a normal car back in you massively over-correct... maybe... I'm not sure and am still figuring it out. I do think, however, that it'll be pretty predictable when I learn it!
And you do get the fantastic 4ws ability through tight combinations
I must try ATTS sometime, though
Hope the weather's better over there. People building arks and cows flying past the windows round here

I'd already typed my last message so let it go as-is... but yep, it would be good to try one some time. I still can't envision ATTS as much different to an electronic LSD, so I have to try one to see, as you saylewd lude lover wrote:These debates between people who have not driven both are always the same. you shouldn't be chucking any car into a really fast bend or combination of bends until your used to the chassis. A 2ws car is pretty much a 2ws car some chassis are taughter than others that's it pretty much.
A 4ws car needs to be driven with finesse and it will outperform quite a lot of other cars bearing in mind its technology that is over 20 years old and a lude will still outhandle most newer cars even in standard trim.
Quick inputs can be made but in any car if you make quick violent corrections you are likely to see the other side of the Hedge or ditch (see Ammo)
its not just a lude 4ws trait plenty of Porsche owners have gone through the pearly gates backwards in flames.
I have driven a 2ws lude with a well sorted chassis and it was a well sorted ride I would stack it against any performance machine, but I also drive a 4ws lude with a well sorted chassis and its a completely different beast it feels alive even at silly speeds but you have to be exact and precise its a drivers car after all.
I have yet to drive an atts equipped lude but I know it will be a completely different beast but I know as well as it will handle it will not feel as live as the 4ws chassis.
It may well be a superb handling machine but I assume it will feel like a 2ws chassis but with elevated grip and while that is no bad thing, I know I will miss the low speed ease of use and the high speed dance of the chassis (those of you with a 4ws car will know what I mean
) you can feel it more through the seat of your pants like the rear axle is right under your seat.
