Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
Wait. What happened to the swear filter thingy? How did that last sentence get through...?

Right, a few updates but nothing physical... Just less research and fuss involved for future.
Bruce spoke to his contact at the DVLA (or whatever they call it now I think it's changed) and it WOULD go off the points system, meaning it would be the lesser of the two tests (a quick look over, like an MOT) which is great...
Also called the DVLA main number and they said if we were to purchase a car that had not been SORN or taxed in that long and they hadn't already fined the current owner, they never will. So it can officially change hands with no repercussions!

On the VOSA / DVSA points scheme, surely you'd still retain the standard steering rack, so that's then up to 7 points, and I'm sure the rear suspension could be made to mount to an S13 axle, so that's then 9 points, and then keeping the original registration.
I'm a triker and a hot rodder, we like to do whatever we can to give ourselves less hassle

I'd be basing the points off the S14 as it's just easier. Suspension set ups are cheaper and readily available, wheels, engine mounting, etc.
The current coilovers are (and have always been) for the silver 'deck so I'd have to source new ones again if I kept stuff Aerodeck rather than S14. Plus S14 = better brakes, better wheel choice, plug&play basically engine wise, no faffing!
I'd rather keep the S14 registration than the Accord one tbh anyway. Keep people guessing as it would no longer be an obvious F reg!

Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
Ok. In desperation to have the car back on the road I have entirely scrapped the S14 idea (for now anyway... who knows what the future holds
)
Plans are underway to get a replacement engine - A20A4, the OEM engine - sorted and hopefully I will have one by the end of the month, or at the very latest the end of the year.
I've just missed driving it so much, I need it back even if it's saved for weekend use!

It's here!

Don't be fooled by the picture, it makes it look good - it's an absolute dog of a shell, the sills are non-existent, it's had a bash at the rear and the rear quarter is stoved in.
Have started stripping it to sell some bits, have someone interested in the front end as in cut off from the dash forward shipped to America.
Engines will be coming out at the weekend from both cars. Engines have never been my forte - I'm best with working out offsets and widths and the maths stuff - but I'm going to try to do everything myself with a watchful eye. Plan is to get it in, oil and filter change, check it runs (just for a few mins) then if it does full service.
I've got some of the history that I've yet to go through too to see how well it's been looked after.
***Also I would offer out parts to the Accord owners on here but it's had no windscreen or side windows in it for 2 years so the interior is ruined bar the plastics most of which will go with the front end to America (dash etc). I do have one rear light (passenger side) but nothing else is worth having, the doors are all rusted bad.
