Really? I have no issues with cost and data. I would presume that was down to your plan rather than smartphones being expensive.

I have been tempted to go back to a 3310 for some time  but that would be too inconvenient.

Yeah you might have something there, it was Orange PAYG, Nokia lumia 920 it was on offer for £230 and i thought why not!! its half price, in the first 4 hours it cost me £40 :o

The way i look at is if i need the internet or want to email someone i've got a PC, but that was way to expensive to run for my liking

I've been without a mobile phone since the Christmas holidays, can't say I really miss it

The only real ball ache is trying to get people to remember that they have to actually think now in that there is 2 choices of number to contact me on (work or home land lines) and they have to look at the clock and figure out where I'll be. Needless to say nobody other than a select few people now call me and that's fine by me

One thing I do miss is having the internet by my side, but tbh I haven't come properly unstuck since not having it.

I'll probably get another phone at some point as I have some things to sell and buyers will need to phone me, but I'll probably just get a cheap pay as you go jobby for that.

Because I like to look after important stuff myself. I even use real writing on real paper for this.

Because the keepers of the cloud make money out of my data. When 'market research' companies call my land line at random, I interrupt them to ask where I should send my invoice. They don't understand, so I point out that I provide information for a living, and if they're going to earn out of it, and their customers are, then I should too.

Because the cloud will go wrong one day, and even if it's for a couple of seconds, no one can tell how it will affect things that run on timers. (and, no, this is not S2K-type scaremongering.)

Because I'm a hoarder by nature and the existence of the cloud will help me keep stuff I don't need. The interweb itself is full of dross "just because we can".

Because not all new technology is good technology.

Glad you got the phone working, you'll find anything Android 5 or above will take longer to boot as it pre-compiles the applications rather than using JIT compilation. The switch to ART from Dalvik as the app engine.

A sign you've spent far too much time around Hondas
