Battery drain issue on my daily 06 accord diesel

Post by hoppi05 » Wed Feb 11, 2015 9:22 pm

Evening all

I have an issue with my daily 06 plate diesel accord, after 2 days stood the battery will go flat???

This is the 3rd battery I have bought so I am sure I cannot be that unlucky I have also performed the usual tests.

Does anyone have any experience with these type of issues or any idea of further tests I can perform?

So far I have done a draw test and put a leak down tester on that showed high leakage so we pulled thw fuses one by one and nothing changed not nota sausage, we got the usual slight movement when playing with radio and memory fuse but that is all!?!?

Based on this my next point of call would be an auto electrician as I all lost on what else to check or what it could be? All I can think of is an issue in the loom somewhere but there has been nothing changed to suggest this?

Any help is appreciated guys and if anyone knows a good sparky in the Wakefield area w. Yorks could you pass the details on please

Cheers Hoppi.

Yeah no bonnet lights and boot ones been removed and the draw test also conformed the lighting was not the issue based on the fuse pull anyway

Yea I work for Honda chap. I'm a diagnostic technician by trade. We have seen a lot of this especially on these cars. Ok so the 2 common problems on this model are the AC clutch relay sticking on and causing a drain. Pull relays while doing the currant draw test. The other is does it have HFT? If so they are common on not shutting down after lock up. You should do the draw test for 10 mins as it can take up to 7-8 mins for the CAN based systems to shut down. If you latch th bonnet catch down, or disconnect the connector for the latch it will think the bonnet is shut and will let you lock it with the remote. What are the readings by the way?

Ok so Hands free telephone. This is set to shut down around the 7 min mark. The AC clutch relay is in the fuse box under the bonnet. It will be marked/shown on the box lid (underside) what is the currant draw you are getting testing?
