Rice burner, a pejorative describing Asian motorcycles and automobiles ... usually quoted by Septics*

okay, so i heard another version of the term 'rice' which was basically racing inspired custom exterior/enhancements (whichever you prefer). cars made to look pretty and fast, but totally bog standard underneath the bonnet.

yep heard ricer before, just didnt know what it ment. only seen it on american sites though :D

Yeah my mate used to me in a classic mini club. he told me to come along and when they asked me what i drove i got nicknamed the rice burner.
as what tash said. i thought RICE stood for Race Ispired Cosmetic Enhancements

The origins of "ricers" is way old, the yanks used it to take the pi$$ of asian auto's be they car, bike, scooter, boat etc, it was a racial slur based on the belief that they ran engines on rice based alcohol in the east.

So ends our lesson for today kiddies :lol:

Yup. I had this exact rant at the wife the other day after seeing one of the little non-VTEC Civic noobs with his fart cannon exhaust. They are ricers.

To me the epitome of a ricer is slaping a square number plate in a UK rear number plate holder, Civic drivers love this as well.

I think that both are acceptable.

As long as the premise is that the car looks hot, but shifts like a metro...its rice. Whatever the abbreviation interpretation.

i thought rice burner was any jap car and ricer was a chavved up jap car suitable for barryboys i would be offended if i was called a ricer
