Mazda5 Suspension question

Post by Lovedoctor » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:20 pm

As we are all Rice burners or RICER's  thought Id ask the the question here - the MAZDA5 Forum is all full of Yanks anyway who seem to love/mod the car, personally I dont see the point as it is sh1t but hey each to their own (you prob by now have got the idea I dont like this car - well I dont and it will be the last Mazda I will buy - went for Jap reliability and got hee haw other than grief  ). With two cars on the drive immobile it hacks me off no end!

Anyway I digress. The car, amongst other things, failed its MOT on 'rear arm bushes being deteriorated (lower)'. Having laughed at the £115+ VAT cost to supply and fit rear brake pads and nearly pissed myself at the £95+VAT per side for the supplying and fitting of the Lower arms I have picked up all the parts I need for less than a tonne delivered and will fit myself.

One remark that was made on my discussion with the Test Centre was the obvious retest. It will cost me £10 for a retest (fair enough) but it was suggested I will need my alignment/tracking done. Is this true? It was never mentioned when picking the car up from the failure or indeed on the amusing quotation for parts and labour - it was only mentioned when I phoned to clarify whether it was the upper arm or lower arm bushes before I ordered the part. If it makes any difference I have chosen to replace the whole lower arm (looks like a spanner with a bush either end) rather than just the bushes.

Any advice will be greatfully recieved. :D

you wont need it done to pass an mot no because driving it from your house to the mot center wont show any evidence of poor tracking/alignment

always worth getting a setup done after replacing anything suspensionwise though IMO :)

I think you're confusing the 5 and the MX-5. One is a Ford based people carrier, and the other is a little 2 seater sports car for hairdressers
