Rocker Cover Gasket (quick question)

Post by prelude_h22 » Fri May 15, 2015 5:04 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Looking to change my rocker cover gasket due to fitting a new refurb cover.
I remember reading many years ago people use the BGA gaskets.
Part RK5363

Are these still the recommended ones to go for?

OEM Honda gasket is abit pricey.

PS: Is Honda bond recommended too?

Cheers all

I have had mixed experiences with the BGA kit. It was good on the track car but leaked on the 5th gen (but it did have a blocked PCV valve though).

Yeah get some Honda bond ;)

Thanks Merlin.

Had a look on Tegiwa and a genuine gasket set is a reasonable £33 posted

Not bad I reckon.

Cant I get away with just using Honda bond on my existing gasket? or is that a no no?

Ive used BGA kits before and found they dont really do the job as well as OEM parts - there are some subtle differences.
You may also want to look at replacing the cam end cap and also the bonded metal/rubber rocker cover washers - they cost about £5/each x 8pcs = £40. or you should be able to buy all the parts as a kit from Honda - think its around the £80-£90 mark.

Thanks all.
Had a thought and will definitely go for the genuine Honda gaskets.
I have a 3.5% discount at coxmotorparts which should help alittle. So will enquire with them.
Thanks vtecmec, Not keen on buying overseas as customs duty will just be added on top and the delivery times can be long. Have you ordered from there before?

Wise choice. In my experience the BGA gasket set is crap:
