Yeah, you would expect that. But it's made more complicated by motherboard chipset/revision, ram used, disk used. TBH, if it's an Acer you're probably buying tech that's not far off being 6 years old anyway

I'd say windows 10 is better than windows 8, and a little better than 8.1 less silly pop up menus and no silly start screen.
Its no faster or slower than win 8/8.1, which were both faster than windows 7.

Users with less than 2 screens may appreciate the multi desktop support, personally not a feature I use. the default search bar on the task bar is nice, if you turn of the 'search the web' default.

It does like to give a lot of information to Microsoft, if your not comfortable with such practices, you may wish to change some setting to lock it all down.
There is a handy guide here https://fix10.isleaked.com/

Other than those things its pretty much the same, the upgrade install from windows 8 was totally painless, only program I had compatibility issues with was symantec SBE 12.1.5, and download some new graphics drivers post install.

In summary, if you still run windows 7, there no real reason to upgrade I can think of, If you run windows 8 or 8.1 I'd upgrade, unless you like the 8/8.1 odd menus and screens.

As an aside this is from a work pc perspective, I've not yet had the time to upgrade my home systems.
