yep, if your sure its the imobiliser, a while back the same ecu appeared on ebay (no key) it sold at least 4 times, every time it sold a couple of weeks later it was back on there again, every buyer hit the same problem and just relisted it again  if you try google you will see just how many people have fallen into this one
think its possible to ket the key recoded but again not owning a 5gen i cant be sure, what i di know is if a 5g ecu is on ebay they always supply the key (no ignition barrel) so there must be something you can do with just the key :?

The ignition barrel part is just a sensor for picking up the signal from the key - it'll be independent of the key/ecu combo. If immobiliser was playing up though, I'd expect the green key to flash constantly - I'd still want to be checking continuity with the power to the system first.

right......every thing has power,no green key.......im getting no power to fuel pump and no spark!!this again is just adding to my thoughts as no green flashing key light at all is indicating to me its not recognising the key immobilising the coil and fuel pump???there is animmobiliser control unit isnt there under the left side of the steering rack......if this has gone can i just get 1 and get my key coded to it???as back up i have an auto electrician coming to have a nose tomorow

There was a recall on something to do with the ignition, there was another thread on here with a guy having problems in that area, I did mention the recall ting but I never went back to see if anyone replied

For some reason though I think I remember it being a plug or connector that was guff?

it was 4g on the recall, it may have been 5ths to, always thought it was the melting issue with the 4th, but a imobiliser issue with the 5th seems more likely :D
