I might not need the gearbox after all, I have found the issue to be a faulty sensor and the fluid doesn't look healthy. I will be replacing both today and will know after tonight how its doing.

Plus I think the postage from Bulgaria would be more than the gearbox.

Drain check the condition of the fluid should be cherry red and have a sweet smell if it smells burnt he has probably run it low and burnt the clutches then overfilled to try to sort it.

So I changed the sensor and fluid at the weekend, the fluid didn't look healthy at all and was really dark. I changed it with some Honda ATF and replace the top sensor followed by a full engine service.

I have been driving it for the past 4 days and its absolutely fine when the car is warm. But when the car is cold, it has troubles going into 2nd gear from 1st gear. I take it these are the early signs of the gearbox going?

yeah have you checked all the solenoids? on the gearbox?

After my last post, it stopped doing it and has driven fine for the last 100 miles. I put it on eBay and Gumtree 2 days ago and sold it this morning.

I'm glad it got saved from getting it broken for parts, it was too good for it to be broken.

Why?? He was fully aware with the issue I have had with it, check the add on eBay and Gumtree. He is doing a manual conversion anyway and just needed the gearbox to work till London which it did. He is using for work now too.
