It was also advertised on a local facebook page until someone else picked up on the mileage discrepancy and was swiftly removed, admittatly it is a cheap car but the absence of a logbook, the mileage issue and overall condition of the car when I inspected it leads me to believe that there is something hinky with this car big time, i me glad I put my money back in my pocket and ran for the hills. The new MOT history checker online must be a sigh of relief for many potential buyers if a car is 40 Quid or 400 quid its best to do your research on it before you buy a used car, I don't hold much hopes of the seller shifting it anytime soon.

I think the difference here is that according to the OP the seller is trying to pass the car off as a lower mileage example, which is out of order regardless of how cheap the car is.

I'm not saying that you should expect a £400 car to be perfect - what I'm saying is wouldn't it ring alarm bells if a seller was lying to you to help shift a £400 car, when most people would probably take the car regardless of the particulars at that price?

It popped up again on a facebook page only a few days ago, again listed as having only 143,000 miles, somebody from Darlington bought it, can only imagine he's either bought what he thinks is the cheepest Lude in the country and not bothered about the hinky mileage, or simply not bothered to do any history checks on the car at all.
