MOT Failure - 5th Gen

Post by theturkv » Wed Feb 03, 2016 10:50 am

Hi,

today had my MOT and it failed on the following points:

- Exhaust emissions - the car exhaust is a decat! i actually did not now  I need to source a CAT so i can install and get the car to pass the MOT. I went to my local breakers and no luck there. I have seen the following link on ebay: this should fit a 2litre 99reg lude.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HA8005-CATALY ... Swo6lWFY96

Unless anyway lives local in sussex who has a CAT that i could borrow i would be much appreciated. Obv ill sort you out a drink :)

- Rear fog lamp not working - I will check the fuse however anyone else might know what the problems mights be if not the fuse?

Rest is suspension and caliper ralated. Annoying, i hate MOT's lol.

thanks

5th gen 97-98 2.2 and all 5th gen 2L use the same CAT so that one will fit http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/wiki/in ... n_exhausts

If the rear fog unit has a leak water can get in and rust the bulb holder.

Yeah It could be. UK 4th gen and 5th gen 97-98 2.2 / 2L are the same size. It should still fit.

But proper listed CATs

5G 97-98 2.2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-OE-Quality ... xye9lSDpfP

5G 2L http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CATALYTIC-CON ... Swe-FU3dNf

thanks merlin. also found this one which matches the OEM part number but going to give the store in chesterfield a call to see if it will fit as its cheaper and i only need it for MOT.

Has anyone had any problems with the ABS light not illuminating on the dash (one of the MOT failures).
I going to check the fuse but any other ideas other than that? thanks

Mercutio means the physical bulb. It might have blown or someone may have removed it.

Oh ok.

Ok so rear fog light also failed as it domt work. I removed that and found it all to be rusted and the bulb is siezed in the unit. So il be ordering a new one off ebay unless someone got s spare I can purchase off them??

so I did a emergency brake test to rule out and it brakes fine without and skids....did a few and went well. This leads me to my question of how to access the abs bulb? Also Im really hoping that previouse owner didnt remove it coz it may have been perm on...lets hope not.

Download the 5th gen service manual (the one with links) http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/wiki/in ... ce_Manuals
Page 997 (section 20-47) will show you how to get the binnacle off. Page 911 (section 19-27) shows the location of the bulb etc...

Once you get the bulb working you will be able to pull the fault code, if there is a fault with the system.
