By all means, take some time and see if you can sort, I'm in no rush for the other chip back. Just hope you sort it.

Or by the sounds of it, send it to Ste to solder. He 'seems' to know what he's doing - this doesn't apply to everything in his life unfortunately! :P

Update. Removed socket and tested each copper track individually.

Found 2 broken tracks caused by too much pressure while desoldering. These ECU's are best part of 20 years old now and need to be treated with lots of care.

Image

Replacement socket now fitted and broken tracks hardwired for continuity. Had it have been worse I would have let Vanzep have my spare JDM ECU but it was not all that bad.

Image

All flux removed and all tracks tested with new socket in place.

All thats left to do is try this in my lude. I have tried a JDM ECU in my UKDM and it will run fine, although will throw a CEL eventually with a knock sensor error.

:D brilliant work Andy - much appreciated.
Im just back from the LG meet at Falkirk - so sorry i didnt get back in touch with you earlier.
I will send u as pm with the return addy

whats that slime on the ecu - will it go faster now?
how did the V2 chip run in your ukdm lude - did you take it out for a run ?

By the way the idle issue i have is down to a sticky throttle cable - When i arrive at the LG meet today I decided to try and pull the accelarator pedal back and Indigolemon (Graham) spotted that there was movement in the cable so will need to replace it. Funny ive never had a problem with throttle cable before and idle has always been rock solid at 750rpm. Will put up a post in the wanted section and should be an easy fix.

Slime is simply from a glue gun to keep the copper wire from moving about and potentially breaking.

I didn't go far with the JDM map running, but I can say that it felt a bit more eager..... but idled at about 500rpm lower so almost stalled when I dipped the clutch.

Am happy to help another troubled lude owner out, I was helped out not so long ago when I was in big trouble with my car, so I'm happy to do the same. We not driving new cars here and we need to help each other out to keep these amazing underestimated cars from the scrap pile.

Not so long ago I was all set for calling it quits and breaking my car, after the comments on this forum I was reminded why I love my car and now have fallen in love with it again (one of those from Vanzep).

You don't owe me a thing Nick, owe me one, hows that!!!
