1991 JDM BB1 - Shopping List

Post by vanzep » Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:12 pm

There is a couple of small issues with the BB1 which i want to sort but as usual it turns into a couple of big jobs
If all goes to plan it will be done in two stages

Ive put a rough note of costs for the record. And * shows parts already purchased or on order.

Job 1.
Gear box has felt a bit sticky going into first a few times recently so that got me thinking about replacing the clutch. I Also plan on changing the driveshafts over as both outer cvs and intermediate shaft bearing showing signs of wear.

OEM ATR Clutch Kit 22105-PDE-325 - £151*
Kaiten Lightweight Flywheel H22- £180*
Torco MTF - £20*
ES Engine Front Poly Mount - £20*
Outer CV Joint ABS- £25*
Driveshafts with ABS- £55*

Job 2.
I have no history or service records for this lude so got to think about inspecting/replacing the belts.
I also plan on refurbing the rocker cover and fitting new gasket at the same time.

Timing Belt 14400-P13-04 or Gates T226 - £30 - Bought Mitsuba Timing belt at £12
Balance belt 13405-PT0-004 or Gates 5235XS - £20- Bought upgrade belt Gates T186 at £10( 1mm wider than std belt)
Cam end cap - Aftermarket triple o ring one - £10
might have one here but would need to check.
Rocker Cover Seal Kit 12030-P13-000 - £65*
Balance Shaft Retainer Kit 06923-P0A-306 - £5*
Crank Pulley Woodruff Key 90704-PT0-000 - £6*
Rocker cover refurb - £60 estimate
Still to decide on manual vs auto tensioner route.
Might try and avoid buying a new water pump and just go with a new gasket.

It all adds up
but once done that should be it for the next 3 to 4 years

I might need to sell off some of my cherished prelude parts to offset some of the cost!

Nice work @vanzep
I've just read this thread again, I can't believe how tidy this car is, especially considering how early it is. 8-)
FYI - I actually have an oem boot spoiler in NH561P in the garage. If you ever fancied adding it, you can have it for postage. :)

:) Cheers @bennyboy thats a kind offer.
Might take you up on that at some point in the future - for now i like the total contrast to my BB4 so im going to run without the spoiler - i know some people dont like the spoilerless look but it does give the lude a clearer more flowing look imo ie/ less clutter ;)

ITR wheels should be lightweight so a definate win 8-)

Im refurbing a set of 16" OEM motegi alloys and going to fit them to the BB1 and see how it looks.
