JDM Goodness - multiswitch swap

Post by funkmasterjay » Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:24 pm

Hey all.

While working on the dash, I came across a 5th Gen SiR car being broken and got the indicator/wiper switches for £6. By installing this, I can now indicate the right way - with the indicator switch on the right.

Question is does anyone know if the plugs are the same? I am only asking this now as I will not work on the car again until the weekend so to save time in preparing I would like to know ahead of time if at all possible.

I have looked at the Prelude service manual but surprise surprise there are no pin outs for the multi plugs for JDM / UKDM for comparison.

Cheers.

LOL Cheers Gorgon.

Well, now my new alarm and remote start / pager is working. The rest of the car is apart waiting for new amplifier wiring kit etc so I thought I would treat myself in consolation for my speaker defeat.

Will keep you all posted.

Ay, Im confused. I thought ALL Prelude were wipers on the left and lights on the right. Iv owned 2 Civic Coupes, 2 4th gen rustLudes, 2 3rd Gens and my Type S and they have all been wipers left and lights right.

Stupid VW van is the other way round though and im used to it now as its my daily. I hate that.

All 4g's are the right way, but ukdm 5g's were switched to match the european standard.

Yep - I had the same with my Gen 6 Celica turbo. I soon saw to that and changed it. The Gen 5 was the 'correct Jap way round' and my Gen 7 was just a hairdryer.

I have a sneaky suspision that the plugs will just swap over as there are a few inches play (from what I saw when fitting the alarm).

With all the problems I have had with this car (rewarding though), I just want to be as prepared as possible, or order the plugs and a few inches of wire if needed before hand.

Try bloody yank barges mate. Lights AND wipers are on the left, gear shifter is on the right........

Yea, if the plugs will reach, go for it :D What's the worst that will happen?

I have an EH9 Civic VTEC that I use as a daily and the indicators are 'correct'. LOL

The worst that could happen is that I get the steering wheel off to find I need to wire in new plugs, delaying me another week lol.

Hey all, now that my car is back together I decided to check if the new switches would work.

With the plastic covers removed, I unplugged the harness. They fitted straight into the sockets, but some pins were not quite right. The left side (now wipers etc) did not work at all, and when I plugged in the right side (now indicators), the right indicator was flashing.

I have decided what I need now is the 2 plugs from a JDM car with a few inches of wire so I can retro fit to my car.
