Car Cutting out , Electrical issue ?
Car Cutting out , Electrical issue ?
Hi Guys
Having some problems with my mk5 2.2 vtec, when driving all of a sudden the car cuts out, this can happen at any speed ,
All of a sudden before cutting out the entire dash lights up and then everything dies without warning, the engine doesn't
slow down then cut out. dies straight away.
Then it takes about 5 minutes before the car will start again, on the key the car will not do anything. no turn over at all.
This to me sounds like an issue with the Immobilizer ?
any advise on the situation massively appreciated ,
Thanks,
Del.

Could be the relay (a green box underneath the dash) - the solder pads can crack causing intermittent connection on the PCB
As mentioned - ignition switch - most likely. Was a recall for the prelude at the time.
Could be an issue with your immobilzer - has an after market alarm been installed?
Check all your ground connections

Funnily enough I had the same issue a few months back and I called Honda to check on the recall. They had no history of it and told me I would have to pay to get it done.
Its £100 all in including labour.
