Exhaust too loud
Hi all I haven't posted on here in a long time! To cut a long story short my engine spun a bearing and crapped itself about a year ago but then I decided to go travelling for 6 months and the car stayed on my drive, now 6 months later after coming home I have just got it back and in the process of running in the 'new' engine with pistons and rings etc. But my exhaust is way too loud for me now either I have grown up or my hearing has got better not driving it for a year. My question is I currently have a 2.25 system fitted but I want to upgrade to a custom made 3" system but with a quieter back box so it's not so droney and loud all the damn time! But would going to a bigger bore make the exhaust noiser anyway? And would a quieter back box be a restriction to the system? Sorry to drag on

Go to proper garage tell them what you need and they should be able to make a system good for you. They mostly know their stuff. AFAIK it's not only a back box but middle section have even more to do with loudness. Also depends which silensers you use it can be more or less restrictive. At the end of the day you can make free flow system which for normal driving conditions will be not to loud but be prepared for vtec being screamy as F...
