I found this out - if your on stock size tyres - 205-55-15 the Avon ZV1 when part worn makes the wheel bearing droning. I moved the tyres to the front and it when away.
I suppose there will be other tyres which do the same.

I have Proxes (can't remember sizes etc.) and on certain road surfaces (like that weird sandy colour jobby they have approaching roundabouts) the noise is disgusting :(

I had some yokos that drove me mad had a garage check it 3 times it was just noise from the tyre

Yeah semi' make a bit of a racket. Have you heard my MaxSport RB5's? Around 100mph they make a wierd whining noise, Mr Ammo in the car as well:
