Post by fithotblonde » Fri Sep 09, 2016 5:09 pm

Is it right that a 4th gen alternater for a 2.2 vtec is 315 pounds just had a look on euro car parts web site. If so dam hope I don't need one. Car has bin struggle to start sounds like flat battery but had a brand new one in April :|

1. You can buy an alternator from a breaker for a tenth of that....

2. Check all connections to your starter are tight & corrosion free. Also check all earth straps are in good shape & connections are good

Check the battery voltage with a volt meter as the car is running. Anything in and around 14v and your altenator is fine.

If it's turning over and not firing then it's another issue. An petrol engine needs fuel/air/spark and compression. When it's running does it run fine?
