Got to admire the b##ls for taking a punt. When you consider a 2000, Gen 5, 2 owner 2.2 v Motegi kit with 48k miles and FSH went for £1250 this week on Auto Trader.. OK it went in 1 day.. I hope someone from this club/forum got that car/bargain, I missed it! prices are all over but 20k or even 11k as it now is for that 2.3 is mental.

My brother had a convertible one, when he got it he said the only thing that worried him was that box, few years later he had problems with it, spent tons of cash trying to fix the problem replacing everything hoping it wasn't the SMG pump, in the end turned out it was the pump which was about 2k, gave up on it and sold it lolJEBB4 wrote:Rather save 10-8k and buy an e46 m3.. 11k for a 2.3, does this mean the 2.2 listed on Autotrader is worth its 6k asking price? It certainly looks very nice....

I bought a 5th gen with 35k miles on it last year.
If I add on the cost of bringing it up to a very good standard (partial re-spray, new wheels, fast tyres etc., etc. ) then I've probably spent nearly 5 grand in total.
So £5995 for a minter is not far off the mark. Half the price of restoring a dog!

must be a bargain if the vendor would haggle! It is an auto but....
