Tyre sizes

Post by A1ex » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:15 pm

So, old topic but what size tyres should I choose?

I have some 16" ITR wheels to put on the lude, was thinking of putting smaller profiles on the reduce the wheels size and tighten the gears but as I'm lowering it 30mm too I don't want to make the car even lower by doing this.

Anyway the wheels are 7" wide, I was thinking 215 or 225 / 45's. Would the 225's be too wide for the wheels? Also would I have any issues with the wheels rubbing on the inside at that size? I can't remember the offset of the wheels ATM, I'm hoping someone will know

225 on a 7jj is a little to wide IMO

Have a look and see the price differences between 50mm & 55mm profiles, im sure there is a significant price difference. I think 55mm is the cheaper option.

55 profile? I'll have alook at prices now

If ITR's are +50, they're a bit further into the arch so wide tyres would be a no no?

Sorry 50 or 55 is the usual profile to go for, I didnt read properly that you were thinking of 45mm. Smaller than 50mm may mean a rough ride.

I've got 45's on the 17" wheels at the moment. Just looked at prices and they're all around the same mark apart from the rainsports jump up significantly in price for the 55 profile.

I'm thinking I'll go for 205 / 50 / 16's as they're only slightly small than what I'm running at the moment so lowering it won't then be a nightmare as there are far as all the spped bumps go :?

But them I'm thinking it may be better to put the teins on first and see if I have room to change the height with the tyres...

Actually RainSport 2's (205/45/16) are quite resonable

8-) good find.

I'm a bit dubious about dropping the car 30mm on springs and a further 15mm (ish) by taking an inch off my wheel diameter. Is a 45mm drop going to cause a problem with speed bumps & ramps etc?
