LSD seems the right option.

I agree with bennyboy. I have similar issues that i haven't properly investigated or tried to fix yet as im working on the chassis at the moment, i guess if it were me i would do some troubleshooting, try to work out what it might cost and if its much more than swapping to an ATR box id probably swap.

I would love to have a working ATTS though.

@RattyMcClelland

Could you describe the differences in terms of drive, is it merely the ability to corner faster, to extend the point where understeer kicks in?

So, lets say a non ATTS/LSD Lude takes a corner at 60mph before understeer limits the speed, is this the point where the ATTS & LSD kick in allowing greater speed through the bend and fending off the understeer?
How big is the difference, an extra 5mph through the bend?
Is there more to it than simply cornering ability?

Would the LSD trump the ATTS in such abilities?

Sorry, lots of questions!

Well not a full technical explanation but the easiest way to imagine it if you haven't driven both; an open diff car sends the power to the line of least resistance, so as you turn a corner the outside wheel is loaded up, the inside wheel is raised slightly and is travelling a shorter distance so it will break grip and spin first leading to power understeer. Avoiding this breaking of traction limits your corner speed/amount of power you can apply.

A limited slip diff does the opposite, so as the inner wheel wants to start spinning it sends more power to the loaded up outside wheel which then grips more and pulls you round the corner. The point at which the front end breaks free is higher so you can accelerate harder through a corner before understeer occurs.

A good diff with a good alignment set up can make a front wheel drive car very special, almost with a rear wheel drive feel to it.

I have asked on the USA Forums and have been doing a lot of reading lately. Seems you can get the sensors from there at around $500 + posting. One guy on there has offered to send me his old ones from his working ATTS, but again not sure if I want to get install them in mine and only to be having the same problems in the future.

I am swaying towards the LSD routes at the moment as the benefits of having that are more then having ATTS.

Before I completely give up on the ATTS, I will try and see if the fluids in there are up to their levels as someone mentioned that it might show that the sensor is faulty as there might not be enough fluid to have the correct pressure. So will do simple maintenance on the ATTS first before I try to get rid of it.

Bit of a long shot but have you checked prices on the sensor you need in Australia as they had an ATTS 5th gen too ;)
Maybe cheaper but maybe not on my current experience with Australia's Honda scene.. :|

I did think of that but when I was searching it last time (couple of weeks ago) the parts were same price as the ones from USA and also the USA had them in stock ready to post where as Australia had to be ordered so could take a bit longer.

So after speaking to Rich (Performance Autoworks) I have another option.. :o :?

Instead of spending a lot on the engine plus the cost of converting ATTS to LSD (ATTS delete plates + new gearbox etc etc), Rich suggested that I should just get a second ATR engine complete with gearbox. This would save on the converting to LSD.

Part of me thinks it's a brilliant idea but for a JDM whore to put the UKDM engine in a JDM car will haunt me.
