@andy1000 - like the look of the Alpine!
The Kenwood is connected to a USB drive that should have my music collection on, but, the Kenwood is a pain as I need to re tag files so it plays albums in the right order, still not got round to retagging files. Also it doesn't do lossless.
The integrated Garmin Satnav is great.
Worth keeping an eye on eBay for exdem factory reconditioned stuff if you are looking but don't fancy 1k prices!
Sound wise it isn't bad, control of crossover frequencies front and rear and controls the sub, full.eq control and some gimmick sound enhancement algorithms. Musically Alpine or Pioneer are arguably more musical? Might be being unfair to Kenwood?
You can never really demo a unit like you might home hi-fi, (though speakers are what I believe contribute most to the tone of a system).
If you think of an upgrade I'd recommend a unit with reverse cam. Prelude's have big arses and I've reversed and hurt my arse before!
