..and I was very disappointed to say the least. It's never happened to me before, as I've often held my knob firmly and pressed the shiny bit in.

Glad to say that with a bit of minor surgery, I can now hold my knob again and everything's back in its proper place. Phew.

How aggressively did you jerk you're knob forward and back before shiny accidents?

You're a bloke so you probably do it like me, firm but not too aggressive. I like to pull it back gently, squeezing the shiny bit at the end at the same time, rather than jerk it backwards and forwards.

I did it to the father in laws knob the other day

, pressed the shiny bit so hard that shot it off into the center console!
