u2q7 lsd and final drive into 5th gen

Post by crxdriver » Sun Jan 28, 2018 4:58 pm

Hi i have had a search but couldn't see anything. I'm buying a u2q7 (ATR) lsd and final drive to fit into my M2V5 gearbox i have. The guy is asking if i need the shaft. (Ok i know there is a joke there lol) Do i need this shaft in order to fit into my gearbox. Thanks.

You’ll need the lsd (one piece) and bearings (ideally you’d want to renew) Bare in mind when fitting into your own box this needs to be shimmed correctly which is why it’s usually best giving to a gearbox builders.

Final drive (2 pieces) yes the shaft is one of them, other fits onto the lsd. If it’s all coming out a built box the smaller piece will be already fitted to the lsd.

Thanks, i have been digging up more info on google too. I am getting the shafts and gears also with the final drive and lsd. It will be fun building it. I will have to take my time and make sure everything is 100%. Im lucky enough to own my own lathe if anything needs to be made up.

newkid have you built a h-series box before? If you have and i get stuck expect a message. I can rebuild an engine with my eyes shut but pretty new to gearbox's.

Easier to just fit the u2q7 whole.

I've built an atr box, they are surprisingly simple inside and the manual is fairly comprehensive.

Take the shaft if it's on offer, there are variances in those and the gear collars. I fitted a 2 litre 5th gear into mine, and needed to remove 10mm off it to make it work.

Thanks everyone. I am getting all of the internals now for the same price. He said the casing was cracked when it was in a dc2 so he was going to put them into a new case but is now going k24. Sounds like not enough clearance to me. I know h series into dc2's can be a bit tight. Anyway his loss my gain. Im hoping to just swap it all into my casing. If i have any trouble i will let you guys know and im sure we can figure it out together.

Have a nice day! Thanks.
