Didn't even try, no.. I think i'm going to remove the steering wheel and have a look at the sensor. Maybe if it moved from its position / somehow isn't aligned, I hope i can fix it.Vtecmec wrote:I was able to do the electronic neutral check with an error code, have you tried to do it?
Yeah well.. I hope i can even find itno0ne wrote:Yeah, sensor should give 0-5 0-5 0-5 volts in a and b phases. Find another main sensor, in 2015 i've bought it for 10pounds from this forum.

Which sensor do you need? I have spares of the main steering angle sensor (steering wheel), the main rear sensor and an entire 4ws unit minus the auxiliary rear sensor.
IMHO using a multimeter for this if you're new to electronics and signal testing will confuse you. They are very specific waveforms that signal to the ECU what to do. You're better off finding an oscilloscope and seeing what happens when you turn the steering wheel / rear wheels.
Did you get an alignment? It's necessary to first do a mechanical alignment before doing an electronic neutral alignment.
You can clear error codes without performing the 4ws reset dance. Taking the 4ws fuse out for a bit (10 or so minutes?) should clear it. So even if the steering wheel angle sensor is goosed the codes can STILL be reset, don't worry about that.
Soldering the relays on the ECU is a 4th gen fix. I tried it when mine was playing up hoping it would apply but it seems to be an issue with the 4th gen 4ws ECU rather than the 5th gen ones.

It now seems I will need the front main one, behind the steering wheel.
I'm an electrical engineer, so multimeter is my best friend - like a dog
Don't have an oscilloscope though...
Getting an alignment by itself is more of a project than not.. Not many mechanics and dealers have that 4WS pin.. Although I know of a guy 50km away from me that has it and I will go to him when i decide for the alignment
OK, thanks for the fuse reset tip, I will try it soon and report back

Two things about this fantastic thread. First, I don't understand 95% of what you guys are talking about, but more importantly, the sheer dedication you brought to this task Anzezaf, is incredible. I'm giving you a rep thing for your commitment and bloody hard work. This thread (although a bit technical for idiots like me) is really quite interesting. Good for you, fella.
