also, worth checking you do not have any play in the universal joint on the steering shaft itself, i think this is in the car, in the footwell, normally under a rubber cover. If its come loose where it clamps, or the UJ is wearing out, you may get this sensation also.

Yes, they have it, and I've adjusted it, unfortunately it's not that.

All sorted now. Ended up stripping mine down and rebuilding.
