High comp pistons

I'm still considering high compression pistons, nothing mega but bigger than atr/A8 11:1's.

Been looking at 11:5/6:1 from Spoon, Wesico, Mahle etc but I have no idea if they are pretty much the same or not, plus do I need upgraded rods with them or not?

I don't think I need to pocket them as far as I know, but unless someone knows different please tell me.

Are you sleeving the block? If not that pretty much leaves you with Mahles gold's.
I'd suggest lighter rods as they will be out and makes sense to uprate them.
I'm on Wiseco 11.7:1 pistons on my sleeved block.
With the supercharger headwork I had done on previous setup compression is closer to 11.5:1 on my setup.

@RattyMcClellandno intension of sleeving the block due to cost savings, why do the other pistons except Mahles require it?

The H22 FRM cylinder liners. Only Mahle Gold's are compatible with FRM liners, they have the special piston skirt coating.

Sleeve it, you'll never be able to get the piston to wall clearance unless you bore it out a little and go oversize pistons. At that point you've spent a few hundred on the block already.

Sleeves are £300 and it's about £900 to fit, the result is a bomb proof engine and massive choice of pistons.

Bomb proof yes. But not "melted cat, blocked exhaust leaning out a/f mixture proof"
