BB1 Scrapyard Dog - AEM Long Arm Cold Air Intake

ive still got lots of upgrade parts to fit - time permitting

From the start of this year i now only use the BB1 at weekends and even after driving ludes every day for nearly 23 years it still feels and looks like a very special car.
the other day i watched a whole load of vids on u tube with Ayrton Senna when he was working on the advert that aired only in Japan and ive got to say he was a legend and a very busy young man but he still took the time to change things to his liking and did a great job in putting his own stamp on it.

BB1 Scrapyard Dog - AEM Long Arm Cold Air Intake
Spent 5 hours today tinkering with the BB1.
The idea was to remove the Type S intake and fit the AEM Long Arm Cold Air Intake.
I bought the AEM intake second hand a few years ago but it got badly damaged in transit as the seller just put a bit of bubble wrap around it. So there were dents in it and the bracket that holds it in place was knocked in and almost completely broken around the weld. I was not amused and was going to sell it on as a project for someone who wanted an intake like this for trackdays etc. But that deal fell through and I was sick of having a broken intake taking up space in my home so I bit the bullet and decided to have a go at getting it sorted.
So thats the reason it took 5 hours to do what should have taken an hour tops.
So i removed the Types S oem air box - thats going onto the 5th gen where it belongs
Then it was off with the wheel and arch liner and removed the intake resonator from behind the front wing and removed the air meter and vac lines.
Then I started work on the AEM intake by knocking out the dents and then welded the bracket in place. I also bonded in a new stainless steel sleeve underneath the bracket to make sure it was air tight and to strengthen that portion of the pipe. There were also a few other custom touches that need done such as fitting a new inlet for the evap canister and making up a new rubber fixing to hold the front bracket in place. I also partially lined the hole in the chassis where the pipe goes through to stop any unwanted vibration. Hence 5 hours work
Here are some pics showing progress made:

Its a good fit and very solid.
Now im thinking about maybe wrapping the pipe, making a cold air ram inlet and ducting from the front bumper and maybe replacing the old slightly knackered AEM Dryflow filter with something slightly smaller in diameter but maybe a bit deeper and with a inlet in the top - not decided yet. I also need to get one of my good condition arch liners out of storage as the one in place isnt good enough.
Car sounds good and revs more freely but i am yet to test drive it.

Gave the lude a clean and polish. Then used some new wax Dodo Juice Bluevelvet. It now looks a bit darker than before.
Freed off the sticking front caliper and topped up the oil.
Its running very nicely with the newly fitted AEM intake giving it a fair bit more poke

Just need to fix the dsp stereo
