i picked it up but not without issues.

turned up at hers after she text me this morning to pick it up at 7 and not the agreed 5pm.

started to talk to her, and she started talking jobby. bloody woman kept on talking at me..... all i wanted to do was look at the car not listen to a load of old waffle.

opened the car and instantly spotted a small area of rust on the inside A pillar by the windscreen seal, popped the bonnet to see if the engine was cold like i asked and luckily it was. had a good look around it before starting it up.

then...............................

nothing...................

bloody car started up and died......

turned the key again, cranked over but nothing fired into life.

fuel gauge was well below the empty mark. so after going out and getting a jerry can of fuel that i had to borrow from her, i then find i cant get the fuel into the car as she had no nozzle for the can.

so made a makeshift funnle from an empty milk bottle. filled it up and nothing. still wouldnt start.

so i checked the leads and all four had a spark but only quite a weak one.

i tried again but nothing.

so i cracked off the blead screw from the top of the filter and cranked it over and no fuel came out.

got into the car and turned on the ignition and could not hear the fuel pump prime. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!
even though the battery was cranking the engine over very fast i thought that i should try to add a little mor juice to the old girl, added jump leads and hey presto she started up. took the leads of and it wouldnt fire up. strange how a strong turning over engine wouldnt start without the boost.

so with the engine running i took it for a spin, wow what a car, so comfy and blinding ride and road holding.

got back to hers and then proceed to look over it.

rust a pillar drivers side
rust severly bubbling through drivers rear arch
rust severly affecting the drivers rear jacking point, to the point i couldnt jack the car up with out it crunching.
inside the boot is a small area of bubble rust.
both front and rear any roll bar drop links rubbers perrished.
rocker cover leaking.
passenger rear arch bubbling.
drivers front wing starting to rust
front brake judder
pulls to the left slightly and steering wheel is off of center.passenger front fog glass cracked and rusted inside.
and a rear fog light switch that illuminates like a lightsabre

more to come tomorrow i would think.

but on a plus side i only paid £650, plus she gave me the new pioneer head unit alpine rear speakers, and kenwood fronts.

let the project begin.

bonuses.

cruise contol
climate control
aircon
abs
4ws
front fogs
poppy uppy lights
lumbar support and side bolster adjustment on the drivers seat.
elecy windows
elecy sunroof
central locking
courtesey door lights.
huge boot
loads of room in the back compared to the forth gen.
elecy aerial button.

Nothing that's not easily sorted mate, so it's all good. Nice motor you got yourself there :D JDM too, so definite win! :D

Press the button to raise the headlamps up, open the hood, and look in the fuse box that's in there. There'll be a fuse marked R Retractor and another marked L Retractor. Pull one of these out, press the button for the lights again, and you'll have a winking lude :D

for f sake, got another problem now, the power steering resevoir leaks foamy bubbling fluid out of the top of the resevoir cap.
been online and they recon its a seal in the resevoir input hose.
is there a parts list / catalogue pdf document?

also
mine is a ba5 chassis with a b20a5 engine. jdm? or usdm? all i can find about it is usdm, is this correct?
is the a5 engine also only 135bhp and not 147bhp like the a7 in rattys? :(

well going by the clocks i would be tempted to say usdm as the main speed is in mph and the secondary is kmph, if they are the original ones at it was jdm it would, i assume be the other way around!

All UK cars are Ba4s. Mine is a Ba4
Ba4 is what all 3rd Gens are out of the factory and Ba5 is the difference in steering rack mounting to the rear wheels and some other contry parts. JDMs were Ba5 where carb, fuel injected or 4WS.

B20a5 is the 135bhp engine. B20a7 is the full 150bhp mother.

Im 100% sure yours is a JDM import now as its a Ba5. Climate control was only for Japan. and you wont see a RHD yank car. And the chrome bumpers strips too.
