Post by bristol_bb4 » Fri May 25, 2012 6:06 pm

Well first day of driving the lude today for a week and I've got a problem! Engine check light is on, idle is a steady 1500 and it limits at 3k! What the fook could this be?! Really starting to annoy me now :(

Have you pulled the codes from the ECU?

My Accord had 'limp' mode which was a bit like this, but I don't know if the lude's do? On the Accord limp mode usually meant a drop in oil pressure and was designed to protect the engine.

Hmmm well I do have a very slight oil leak which I can't seem to tack down! But its only spots and wouldn't I have the oil light on if I had an oil issue? Arghh I'm tempted to just sell the friggin thing

Mine did this to me before. It was the dizzy. It was having a couple of flat spots in the power band, then at one point got it really wrong, threw a code and went into limp mode. Did it on start up a coiuple times too.

Take the cap off and see if there is much corrosion on the pins or rotor, that can give a bad signal, put the timing out and throw a code. Obviously it's not gaurenteed to be this as there are plenty of other this which can go but it's an easy place to start

You were spot on mate! Didn't realise just how fast I was losing oil! Popped 2 litres in and the check light went off and all is well again! Have some well earned rep bud!
