my steering wheel is the same but the yellow stripe got on my nerves  as we can't drift so i painted it dark blue

but yours would look good blue inside i think red would clash a bit
running without lambda for long is not good but wouldn't make lude cut out it just messes up your air/fuel mix
would make her a little throaty and burn fuel quick. IACV or air block m8!

Yeah you're probably right. I've seen a couple of cars where it worked but probably a different shade of blue. Think blue is a safer bet

Stuff found in the boot

Post by Rich » Fri Mar 30, 2012 9:16 pm

Quick update:

No actual progress made on the car but I've just been through the boot today and found a load of stuff:

Some amp wiring :) this could save me a bit of cash when I get round to doing my ICE:

Belts, tensioners, a dizzy and a clear dizzy cap:

I found another dizzy cap later on too.

I also found a couple of these new in packets; anyone know what they are?:

And a brand new stabiliser link:

I can only assume from this that the belts & tensioners will need doing soon, there's been some dizzy problems, and one of the stabiliser links has been done (as it says 1 of 2).

First valet

Post by Rich » Sat May 26, 2012 9:48 pm

Nearly ready to start using this car now... had her valeted yesterday - so she's looking shiny for the summer :)

Image

I've still got to put the interior back together after stripping it out to give it a good clean (and compare parts against those from my other lude to get the best ones). Well, I've got a deadline to do all that now - I let go of my other lude today :( and so I am without car until I get this one taxed (next Friday). I did something daft and got myself insured from today - but I didn't take into consideration that the car wasn't taxed and although I could go to the PO and get it sorted I'm not gonna waste a month's tax money for the sake of a few days.

So yeah! Next Friday I will be officially a BB4 driver! Can't wait! :D

Taxed!

Post by Rich » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:54 am

Got 12 months tax this morning (Yey! :D) so I drove her to work (first time I've driven the car since 18th March). The rear brakes are rubbing a bit from being stood and there is a rattle coming from the glovebox area - other than that it all seems good! :)

I parked up behind an Impreza in the work's carpark and they look the same colour...

The guy I bought my car from said it was Mitsubishi Evo X electric blue but so far this Impreza is the closest match I've seen (haven't seen a blue evo in person yet though). Maybe he ordered evo blue and the garage gave him scooby blue? Anyway, I'll park alongside an electric blue Evo X if I get the opportunity and compare paint

Progress to date

Post by Rich » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:35 pm

Just thought I’d list a few things I’ve done to the car over the past few weeks.

I took/swapped a few parts from the BB3 just prior to selling her the other week:
  • Swapped seats from BB3 as they were in better condition
Swapped centre console parts (they were the same but some of the BB3 bits were in better condition - the BB4 did however have a working cup-holder :))
Air induction kit - EBay Special (I will probably go back to standard box with K&N filter but I am enjoying the sucky noise for now)
Stainless-steel cooling plate (bought from H-H)
    Clear side repeaters
Rear window lower trim (rubber on BB4 one was peeling)
Lexus style tail lights ( but I did immediately remove them)
Tweeter covers (BB4 right tweeter cover had a hole cut into it for water temp gauge)
I have done a couple of things since but not much:
  • Removed & bunged rear wiper (thanks to Nucleustylz for his write up)
Replaced NGK platinum tipped plugs (age unknown) for Denso iridium tipped plugs
Fitted front upper strut brace (EBay Special)
Re-upholstered arm rest in black leather
    Fitted Mugen racing pedals
    Fitted Mugen oil cap
It's not very exciting I know, but there is more to come.

I named the car recently... after umming and ahhing for weeks (originally wanting to call her Tuppence, then Tupac - due to the TUP in the number plate) I have now named her Tulip (mainly because that is what the wife has been calling her).

Now here are a few short-term plans:
  • Buy a boss kit so I can re-fit the OMP Corsica steering wheel
Install Spoon chip (bought from Nucleustylz a little while ago but my soldering skills are a bit lacking)
Swap JDM silver one-piece headlights for black ones (already bought just need to fit them)
Finish wiring up the water temp gauge
Sort out front passenger side fog light (can't get to it though as screws are rusted!)
Refurb & fit my 16” Oz SuperTurismo alloys (I’m thinking of going white - anyone tried white wheels on a blue car?)
I won’t list my longer term plans as I tend to change my mind often but the ones above are definitely on my agenda.
