I also have a similar sound on my lude, can only notice it when the window is down and in lower rpms though, but cant tell if it is a belt or the gearbox ( had a similar sound before I did the ac belt delete) :? also is there a way to check the mtf level? or is it just as of when you change it?

thanks

You can check the level of the MTF fluid by removing the fillerbolt and putting your finger in. It should be just below the filler hole. Not that easy to do as you have to have the car level before you can do this. So you need level ground and 4 axle stands............I wouldn't get under a car without it at least being on axle stands.

Fluid level aside, if you dont know when your gearbox oil was last changed or if its has ever been changed, I would get it done as a matter of precution. 2 Quarts of MTF isnt expensive and a local garage shouldn't charge a lot to get it done.
